Here Am I, Send Me

I have always wanted to be a teacher, since I was yeah high.  *motions about a foot off the ground*  It has just been last semester, when I began studying education that I really have become excited for whre God is taking me!!  I love teaching (I always have looked forward to VBS, etc. each summer) and I love pouring myself in to other people's lives.  It's important to me that I make a difference not just in the world of work, but also in the kingdom of God.
For me, I feel the best way to do that is by teaching in the public school setting.  I get so excited thinking about all of the children that I could have an impact on.  Think about it this way:
Who was one of your favorite teachers in school?
What impact did they have on you?
What was the most important thing that they taught you?
Most likely the answers to the second and third questions do not include a list of dates which wars began or an array of math facts.  If you just learned this from school let me know.  I will find a new major.  I love the teaching profession because it is so much more than that.  It is a chance to show the world how faith can change you and how important God is in my life.  I may not be able to say this in so many words in the public school, but I can at least shine my light for the lost and dying world to see.  Then I will fulfill the challenge to go to the ends of my earth (probably more like samaria, theologically).  I want to live out Acts 1:8 in any setting that God places me in to shine His light in a dark world that so desperately needs Him to save them from their darkness.
